Which monitors are best for sim racing?
Gamers in the gaming community are increasing day by day. Nowadays everyone wants to play video games to spend their time. In a world full of technology everyone wants to use it rather than spending their entire time in physical activities. Every individual is fond of playing video games on the 3D display or in a virtual handset like valve index.
Gaming monitors are of different shapes and sizes w.r.t to their manufacturers that what specs are included by them. Manufacturers offer a wide variety of specs nowadays so it’s hard to keep an update on every product. From one model to the next one, the updates are very incremental that you have to struggle for them to notice what’s changed in this product. Every company lacks in one of the specs, some offers good display while some lacks in the technical department.
There are a lot of companies in the market that are producing monitors that’s why competition is at its peak.
“The more the products, the more the competition in the market”.
The marketplace of monitors is so vast that many companies are producing monitors.
Sim racing is the collective term of simulation of racing. It means you are playing racing games using simulations.
In the section below we will talk about sim racing and configure which monitor is useful or best for sim racing.
To the point, there are three options for sim racing
- Use single screen
- Use of triple screen
- Or use valve index (virtual reality headset)
On the other hand, you have to upgrade your pc specs so that it can handle simulations for sim racing. Simulations can be used for different games like assassin’s creed, call of duty, counter-strike, etc.
I just improved my sim rig with the upgrade of my pc and a few driving hardware so that I can have a better view of the game.
Your experience with a good gaming monitor cannot be overstated unless you are using VR when you thinking about which monitor will impact your overall immersion.

Which Monitors Are Right For Sim Racing?
Many of the games like shooter games, racing, or adventure games are usually played while sitting at a table. There are never-ending choices for monitors I noticed. There are a few patterns that make perfect sense for pc gamers.
The market for gaming monitors is very vast so there comes a lot of confusion that which monitor should we buy for sim racing. There’s no need to worry about them I have searched for them and come out with a few patterns that which monitor is suitable for this pattern.
The suitable monitors for sim racing are relatively few and far between.
Sim racing enjoyed a spike in popularity over the last years. It makes sense when it is a comparison with other gaming genres. Finding a monitor is more challenging whether you want to play a racing game or CS GO if it’s true then which one is best for sim racing?
The answer is that there’s only one factor, Field of view (FOV) what is the field of view? It means how much the game is observable from your monitor because sim racing requires FOV from a man in other games.
FOV allows you to stimulate 180 degrees to feel like being in the driver’s seat of a real car. It means you will need a monitor that allows you to view in widescreen to see what’s beside and behind. It also allows you to view behind from your side mirrors. Successfully, you ought to have the sensation of being completely drenched in the game, with the showcase bending around you, as when dashing, what’s in your fringe vision is regularly similarly as significant as what’s directly before you.
If the gamers want to achieve FOV there are several options first, Use of a single curved screen (ultrawide monitor). The second option for gamers is to use a triple-screen monitor. As the ultrawide monitors offer less FOV than the super ultra monitors.
Super ultra-monitors come with a 34” screen display that allows the gamer to use the cockpit view and see the entire widescreen while playing sim racing. You can also spot the cars that are behind you using the side mirrors. Any dimension less than 34” doesn’t make any sense in a triple screen monitor.
According to the three options I mentioned above there are the best monitors for sim racing. I’ll let you know which one is best to buy for the above-mentioned options. I had made a list based on my research while upgrading my rig and each monitor is my personal opinion, After the following factors G-sync or free sync, panel type, resolution, response time, and refresh rate.
Use the links below to choose which is the best monitor for sim racing.

What To Choose, Single, Triple Screen, Or Ultrawide Monitors For Sim Racing?
Triple screen increases the immersion for sim racers due to the increase in the size of visuals around them. It is your opinion which to buy a triple screen or single screen but in my opinion, triple is best.
Suppose you’re driving a real car and what factors do you keep in your mind while driving. The same case is for virtual driving. Using sim racing you have to demonstrate the correct field of view. You have to see what’s in front of you and what is coming behind you. If the view of your screen is limited you will not be able to see but if you have a triple screen monitor then your field of views increases due to the increase in the size of the screen. Keep these things in mind that take the best monitor that suits you.
If you have a triple screen, everything looks natural you’ll be able to see-through side mirrors and can have a better view while driving, it feels like you are driving a real car. You can have a better sense of what’s around you, it’ll be more fun while driving. Don’t let the price make a decision.
The more the cost, more the performance is
On the other hand, it is also possible to increase the view while using a single screen. You can increase your view by choosing ultra-wide or super ultra-wide monitors but still, you can’t reach the level of triple monitors.
34” Best Ultrawide Monitors For Sim Racing
A few laptops that are well-equipped are in this category. ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQLIB comes with a resolution of 3440*1440 with a refresh rate of 165Hz (supports 144Hz). This monitor has a 1ms response time which is great and also has Free-sync Premium.
Comparing the price with GIGABYTE G34WQC also offers similar specs as ASUS but has a refresh rate of 144Hz.
One of the downsides for these monitors is their curved screen radius as far as sim racers are concerned. Their 1500R curved is too shallow to get the feel of immersion while you are seated but these are much better than the flat monitors of the same size.
Instead of these monitors let’s have a look at SAMSUNG G5 Odyssey C34G55T which comes with a curve of 1000R but have similar specs described above. The plus point for SAMSUNG is it’s 1000F curved which provides a better field of view for sim racing. G5 is similar to AOC CU34G3S/BK which also offers the same specs as Samsung with a 1000R curve but its features like Nvidia G-sync, Connectivity is much better than Samsung. The streamlined design also attracts sim racers.
Slim bezels are considered art-conscious by some gamers, but to be honest, gamers will stay more focused on the action. As my opinion is concerned AOC is the best monitor for sim racing.
In this segment of 34” best ultrawide monitors, AOC remains in the first place. Just buy it if you find it in stock.
All of the 4 monitors mentioned above come with a VA panel which is better than the IPS panel. The IPS panel is good when you are doing programming or any multimedia work like designing or editing.
Best Super-Ultrawide Monitors For Sim Racing
Looking at super-ultrawide monitors, competition is very low in the markets but there are some monitors that can be considered. Best super-ultrawide monitors provide a better field of view and the gamers will have a better sim racing experience.
To be the best monitor in this category let us start with ASUS ROG STRIX XH49VQ which has a display of 49” and a resolution display of 3840*1080p with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It comes with a response time of 4ms. The best in this is its 1800R curve. To be honest, the curve and response time is not ideal for sim racing but overall, it’s best. Another series of AOC AGON AG493UCX also comes with the same display and has a faster response time of 1ms. It comes with a resolution of 5120*1440p with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Its curve is also the same as 1800R.
The Titleholder in this series is Samsung G9 Odyssey Neo G95NA. G9 is the newest model in the Samsung series that offers a refresh rate of 240Hz, 1ms response time, and a resolution display of 5120*1440p. it also comes with a display of 49” and has the same curve of 1000R as its older model. These specs of the Samsung G9 make it the best new heavyweight monitor for sim racing.
Triple Monitors For Sim Racing
Finally, we are on the Triple screen monitors, the best for sim racing because we can have a wide field of view for sim racing. Using a triple monitor, we can imagine as we are driving a real car or playing a real game. There’s a lot of debate on it but we will debate to the point. The amount of flexibility and combinations in monitor size and shape s infinite. Some people ask why to curve is better than flat monitors but, to be honest, it’s a personal decision that what’s better for you in which you’ll feel comfortable.
Every individual has their own thinking ability but the key point is the Field of View in all opinions. You can go with any brand and size that has thin bezels, high resolution, fast refresh rate, and response time of the three monitors.
If I have to choose the best triple monitors for sim racing, I’ll go for LG Ultra Gear 27GN950-B which comes with a display of 27” with a 4K screen resolution of 3840*2160. It also has a 1ms response time with a refresh rate of 144Hz and it is only monitored to have G-sync and Free Sync compatible as well as the only feature of the IPS panel.
Bezel Free Kits
What is it? Don’t hear before, let me tell you, a Bezel-free kit is an accessory that can be slotted between each monitor to eliminate the space or gaps between monitors/screens. It refracts the light from the edges of each monitor’s display and blends the two light sources.
They are actually made up of plastic that clips in place. It makes the picture dimmer than the display.
Stands and Mounts of Monitors For Sim Racing
Stands and mounts are the next on the list. You don’t need to think much about it, if you have a standalone rig you are going to need a monitor stand. Monitor stands are of different shapes and sizes, it allows you to adjust the height, space, and angle of your monitor.
Before heading towards the factors that should be kept in mind before buying a monitor for Sim racing (Guide). Here is a list of

Guide
What to check before buying a monitors for sim racing?
Screen resolution
It is the first factor to consider when choosing a new screen. Most of the new gaming PCs can easily handle 1440p so don’t depend on your CPU and GPU, whatever your CPU and GPU is just choose the fastest refresh rate and higher resolution monitor. If your screen resolution is low, you cannot enjoy gaming. Gamers are heading towards 4K resolution because monitor prices are decreasing day by day with an increase in innovation. Below list is the breakdown of screen resolutions.
Manufacturer name | Resolutions |
8K 4320 pixels/Full Ultra-HD | 7680*4320 |
Ultra-HD/4K 2160 pixels | 3840*2160 |
Quad HD/2K 1440 pixels | 2560*1440 |
Full HD/1080 pixels | 1920*1080 |
720 pixels/HD | 1280*720 |
Frame rate and Refresh rate
Frame rate, known as FPS. FPS is the term that most individuals know. It is the measurement of how quickly a number of frames appear within a second, which is why it is called FPS (frame rate per second). For smooth gameplay 60 FPS is ideal.
Refresh rate is measured in hertz (Hz). It counts the number of times the display fully refreshes every second. 60 Hz display means 60 times per second. If your CPU is capable to run a 120 Hz refresh rate then it’s very good for gaming.
Free sync and G sync
Free sync (AMD) and g sync (Nvidia) are actually graphic cards protocol that allows a variation. Check the monitors for free sync and G sync compatibility before buying a monitor. These are very important in the specs of a Monitor.
Response time
What is it? Response time is the total amount of time to respond to a request. It is the sum of waiting time and service time. The minimum response time is the better monitor works. 1ms is the ideal response time for gaming.
Summary
The best monitor for Sim racing would be of low response time, higher refresh and frame rate and its screen resolution should be Full HD. Before buying a monitor go through with all the specs. An important one is the monitor should have Free sync or G sync compatibility. If you want all these specs in a monitor and you are buying for Sim racing then go for the monitor that I mentioned in my Triple monitors heading.
